How I can know if my topaz ring is genuine?
I recently bought a topaz ring 13ct (dark blue) of a jewelry designer in Brisbane. She said it was a real blue topaz. I took the jewelry to get the ring size is 14kt gold and asked if I wanted to test how could. They said they would send it for testing, but under a magnifying glass is clear and a stone large enough. So what I'm asking is how I can try at home if it is a genuine topaz? I am a little skeptical of sending them away as jewelers can then replace the fake rocks and how this stone seems very clear and purchased as "genuine" I'm a little hesitant if it is a genuine topaz that might get out and replaced by a false … So how I can try at home? What am I looking for? Or if I take it somewhere to get tested, where I can take if you live in Runaway Bay, Gold Coast (Queensland). Is there anywhere on the coast to test, while I sit there? Thanks heaps !!!!!
To make a definitive analysis the topaz ring in the home is not really possible. Does the person selling the ring to tell if the stone had been heat treated? Blue topaz is rarely found naturally. Most blue topaz jewelry you see are heat treated to give it its color. If you want to get me to send him a tried stone, as it is the only how to know if it's definitely real, heat treated or stimulants. I would not worry, replacing the stone while you are away, just make sure choosing a reputable jewelry or jewelry. I want to learn more about topaz here's a link to an article on the stone, which http://www.wightmangoldsmiths.co.uk/id26.htm Hope this is useful.
